The Detroit, Michigan chapter of Ikebana International was chartered in March of 1965.
The objective of Ikebana International shall be to promote mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and other countries through introduction of ikebana (the Japanese art of flower arrangement), and other related Japanese traditional arts (collectively ikebana and other related arts) to such countries.
In addition to this, the objective of Chapter 85 is to share Japanese culture and strengthen relationships among masters, teachers and students of Ikebana through cooperation with other Ikebana International chapters.
